Brain Injuries

Brain Injuries ◊ Greenville, South Carolina, Attorney

The brain is an extremely fragile organ. Since it is the physical center of each individual's personality, injuries to the brain profoundly affect the way people interact with others, care for themselves and navigate daily life. If your loved one suffered a brain injury as the result of someone else's negligence, it's very important that you find a lawyer who can scientifically demonstrate the extent of the injury and the impact it's taken on your loved one's and your life.

A "closed head" brain injury occurs when the head strikes an object. When this happens the brain, which is floating within the skull, slams against the skull wall causing damage, including bruising of the brain.

Different Levels of Severity in Brain Injuries

Brain injury litigation requires extensive expert testimony and technical understanding of the medical science that describes the injury. In addition to having a scientific and technical background myself, I will work with multiple experts to help make your case. I tend to focus on more serious claims, but brain injuries can come in all levels of severity:

  • Mild: a mild brain injury can cause chronic headaches, short term memory loss and subtle cognitive deficiencies.
  • Moderate: a moderate brain injury can cause noticeable cognitive deficiencies, personality changes, irritable outbursts and socially unacceptable behaviors.
  • Severe: a severe brain injury causes catastrophic mental and physical debilitation, leaving the victim unable to live independently or function in society.

Brain injuries may be caused by a single, instantaneous head trauma or closed head injury, a long-term deprivation of oxygen, or a number of other causes.

Whatever the circumstances of your case, I can assemble a full team of experts to help. To schedule a free initial consultation, call 864-382-3800 or contact my office online any time.
